School Enrichment Programs That Educate, Entertain, and Inspire!
Presented by
Almodarr's Grand Illusion
The MAGIC of The Steelgraves

Above:  TREASURE READING (formerly "A Voyage With Capt. Cutlass")--
Our featured themed program for 2007-2008

"On a scale of 1-5, I rate you 5++!  All staff and students K-6 thoroughly enjoyed the show.
All aspects of the performance were exceptional:  kid appeal--all children were engaged;
theme and scenery--attractive and colorful; rapport, humor, skill--outstanding.
It exceeded our expectations--we saw that magic was more than card tricks and ropes.
We would most definitely like to see another performance by Almodarr's Grand Illusion!"

ENRICH YOUR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM...MAGICALLY!!!
Children learn best while they're engaged, entertained, and involved.  Magic accomplishes all three of those goals!
Amazing visual effects, hilarious comedy, active audience participation, and huge WOW factor combine to captivate your students
on many different levels.  Even more enthralling is a seamless blend of magic and theatre--
what we've come to pride ourselves on as one of our "specialties".

With backgrounds in just about every aspect of the performing arts, Markus (Almodarr) and Angelique Steelgrave
bring their unique talents to these delightful programs.  The Steelgraves are the ONLY magical entertainers in the region to offer
such a wide variety of magic programs.  Each is educational without being didactic:  highly magical, theatrical school enrichment programs
that integrate and explore diverse topics in a kid-friendly and entertaining manner.

Today, the art of magic has been greatly popularized by such magicians as Lance Burton, David Blaine, Criss Angel, and--of course--
David Copperfield.  (Sadly, as great a magical pioneer as Copperfield is, many children don't know who he is anymore...)
Wherever we go, kids ask to see a "magic trick"!  They will stop what they are doing and FOCUS on that trick.  We can practically see
their minds working, trying not only to figure out "how it's done", but to keep us (the magicians) from knowing that they can't figure out
"how it's done"!  Bring this experience into the school, and see where the discussions lead afterwards (we provide Teacher Guides to help
with that, of course).  Learning takes place on different levels based on the theory of multiple intelligences, and MAGIC is a vehicle for this.

A fascinating art, magic stretches the mind and demonstrates that not everything that is seen is exactly so.
In reality, all magic is based in science and psychology; creating an illusion through magic and sleight-of-hand involves both the magician
and the audience, in reciprocal roles using sensory perception and reception.  It's not quite as simple as trying to "fool" you; as magicians,
we strive to create moments of belief in the impossible becoming possible.  As magical entertainers, we want you to be entertained!

"Thank you so much for your wonderful program of Magic.  Our approximately 200 students were delighted
with your performance.  Your delivery and explanations were entertaining and effective for our little ones and
their teachers too.  You spoke to our students in such a caring and respectful tone....Thank you for understanding
the importance of audience participation in order to keep everyone involved.  You had a good balance of choosing
individual children to be on stage with you, and having the entire audience involved with magic words and clapping....
What a great show you gave us--very entertaining and a perfect length.  Thanks for working so well with us for the last 3 years.
This show was the best ever!  We all had such fun!"

Our SPECTACULAR MAGIC SHOWS are always available.
No particular theme, but still definitely not your
usual "school magic show".

Beautiful backdrops, "magical" wardrobe, lively music, spectacular magic tricks and illusions, juggling,
live doves and a bunny play a part in all the performances.  Two dynamic, kid-friendly performers carry the show,
and the audience is invited to participate (some onstage, the rest from their seats).
These are not "suitcase magic shows" by any means, and your audience will have a blast!

Various programs available; 30 to 50 minutes, depending on show.

"We truly enjoyed your performance...it wasn't quite Siegfried and Roy, but for an elementary school stage,
it surpassed all expectations.  It was much more elaborate than we expected.  The kids loved it.
The fast pace and subtle humor went over the heads of some children, but the visual appeal was enough to
keep everyone entertained.  You did a wonderful job interacting with the children, and have good intuition
about engaging their level of participation.  Thanks!"

Magic as an addition to your elementary school curriculum is a terrific complement to other arts forms your students are exploring.
Many of the skills involved in creating a magical performance are already part of what your students are learning.
A magical performance by The Steelgraves can be implemented within your enrichment programming in countless imaginative ways.
Our school programs constantly exceed expectations.  Teacher Guides are also provided in advance.  Since we are performers,
NOT educators, we rely on those on the front lines of elementary education to take charge and weave our magical programs
as far into their own teaching plans as they desire.  The Teacher Guide will help with that.

With MAGIC as the medium, subtle messages and themes are reinforced and made memorable...
through visual metaphor, stunning effects, laugh-out-loud humor, active participation, and sheer "WOW" factor!

"It was all great!  The kids loved it!...I appreciate the important messages behind the magic.  It will tie in to our
recycling/environment unit after April vacation.  This was perfect for the spring.  My students and I enjoyed it very much!"

                                                                                                                                    --Pendleton St. School, Brewer, ME

"THANK YOU! for such a wonderful performance...the entire school was enchanted.  Great job; very visual, good humor,
very entertaining and appropriate.  We hope to have you back next year!"
                                                                                                                                        --Songo Locks School, Naples, ME

"We talk about recycling, the water cycle, etc.  THE MAGIC GARDEN fit in very well--a bit of magic, a bit of teaching,
and a bit of humor!  I liked the interaction with kids during the program.  The kids loved the animals.  It was great!"
                                                                                                                        --Whitefield Elementary School, Whitefield, ME

"You were fantastic!  It was a perfect way to end Catholic Schools Week.  Your show reinforced our policy of behaving in a safe,
caring and polite way.  The kids loved it!...The 'mini-lessons' (animals, respect) were integrated very well.  Great job!"
                                                                                                                                                                                    --St. Thomas School, Sanford, ME

"We loved you!  We have such a wide range of ages, and you were right when you said your show appeals to ages 3 to 103.
I've received nothing but positive comments.  And thanks also for tailoring your act to work with our theme--
that was a particularly nice touch.  Don't be surprised if you get more calls for your talents,
both from the school and from parents!  Thank You Both So Much!"
